Our Story

Who We Are

In December of 2018 my wife Kris, our three girls and I seemed to be blessed with a string of bad luck, which resulted in the loss of the home we had lived in for over a decade. We decided to pack up and move back to Kris’s hometown of Newark Ohio, but with limited funds we couldn’t afford to be picky about a roof over our heads. The half double that we found was more than big enough but did not have any area for me to continue any of the hobbies I had in our former home. Looking for something to keep myself occupied, I started baking again which was something I hadn’t done in years, and had forgotten how much I truly enjoyed it. This led me to starting my You Tube channel again, where my viewers and I could learn how to bake and fine tune our skills together by making something new together every week.

After weeks of baking, and the family eating all that I was baking, I started taking baked goods to work so my coworkers could try out the goodies I was making, several of them suggested that I should open a bakery. I was very adamant that this was probably never going to happen. Well, a few short months later I was asked to make a gluten free, nut free cherry pie (no almond extract) which led to making cupcakes for a small fundraiser, then cookies for graduation parties, and requests for cupcakes and all kinds of cheesecakes (they are my favorite to make).

So now with me doing the baking, and Kris doing much of the decorating (especially the fancy cookies) we’ve decided to make it our mission to put a smile on faces, and a bit of joy in the lives of others with Mr. Smith’s Kitchen and all our made to order baked goods.
